In a well predicted move the male dominated International Chess Congress voted against the introduction of female bishops at its annual meeting.
Advocates of change polnted to the opportunity to sex up the game and sell new chess sets that have re-modelled bishops with added pointy bits. Opponents cautioned the congress against such a move as it could play havoc with the concentration of the predominently male chess players.
A spokesman for those opposing female bishops said 'Playing with the queen is enough. We do not think we could hold our members in check if we had to handle female bishops.'
