Oi be'ave, I was in a play with Bethany Bell once. It was set in Ancient Athens and she played a courtsean, handling an excruciatingly awful soliloquy about flowers that make you horny with great aplomb. Not a sniff, mind.
I remember one of the female Brighton councillors being very worried when permission for the nudist beach there was granted many years ago. She wanted very strict controls on where nudity was permissible, saying "We can't have male nudists running around willy-nilly."
Oxbridge were you perchance in Footlights?
I thought Brighton was a pebble beach which would make running around more like hobbling which doesn't look attractive even with your clothes on ;0)
I can (just about) see why Egyptian nudes were unusual.
Tssh, Footlights is at Cambridge as any fule kno and I didn't hang around there long enough. I was in a play called Healing Nature, which was the first to take place at the Sheldonian Theatre since Georgian times, as was Ms Bell.
oooooh get her! I once played Widow Twanky at the Wulfrun Hall in Wolverhampton - so there.
