It was inspired by diverse but familiar sounds like the noise of Rice Krispies and John Peel jiggling his keys in his trouser pockets. Two giants of the radio and breakfast cereal world have launched a “noise installation” to mark a hundred years since Marconi invented morose code, and William Kellog invented All Choc Tooti Frooti Whole Grain Munchies.
On his drive time show on Radio 2, All Bran explained his vision for the sounds to an impressed-looking DJ, Simon Hellman. The installation includes the sound of bubbling Marconi Cheese, provided by bassist Alex James, as well as the sound of Charlotte Green giggling in a pub because she was drunk.
All Bran is famed for his part in the '90s Britpop explosion, when he was front man of the band Blair. It received massive sponsorship from the fizzy drink giant Oasis. The Hairy Cornflake, better known as Jerry Lee Travis shocked listeners to the Lillian Hellman show by announcing he was leaving the BBC again, to join Johnny Walker's Black Label Magic FM 98.2. He denied any allegation of wrongdoing, saying “Back in the seventies things were different, then. Those were the days my friend, I thought they'd never end. But they did”
