The BBC have admitted today that the reason for the complete lack of facts during recent Newsnight investigations is the loss of Ceefax.
'We have been using Ceefax for our news stories for years' admitted the outgoing Director General George Entwistle. 'Since it disappeared from our screens we have actually had to indulge in proper journalism. How where we to know the Internet isn't always factual.'
Mr Entwistle, who resigned on Saturday, also apologised for his delayed departure. 'I would have gone sooner but I didn't think it was my fault. I had heard a rumour there was a new DG at the BBC but only found out on Friday is was me'.
