In the wake of the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy, US President Barack Obama has postponed the US presidential election for four years as a mark of respect to Sandy victims.
“Personally I was looking forward to the election” said President Obama. “But I have to put aside my personal interests and focus on the victims of this very badly timed weather event. So postponement of the election is the only sensible option.”
“Obviously the last thing anyone wants is for politicians to make political capital from this terrible tragedy while there is clean-up work to do, so the postponement will be for a minimum period of four years. It could even be longer – with my luck with the weather there might be a tornado in Kansas or some really annoying fog and drizzle in Chicago.”
