Lawyers acting on behalf of Abu Hamza (AbHam) have spotted a loophole in his extradition papers that allow anyone extradited to the US the opportunity to audition for a Broadway show within the first 6 months of them arriving in the US.
AbHam has already started to explore opportunities in the theatre world and is thought to be trying to reinvent himself on the stage. A spokesman close to the radical muslin cleric said recently “He sees this as a chance to repair his damaged reputation after a number of negative news stories circulated in the UK press”.
It’s thought he will shun the stereotypical parts he is usually cast in, such as pirates and villains in favour of a role with more depth. Roles thought to be high on AbHam’s list are Juan Peron (Evita) and Daddy Warbucks (Annie).
AbHam won’t be the first person extradited to the US to identify this loophole with Christopher Tappin’s stirring performance in Rent the Musical still holding legendary status in theatre world.
Gary McKinnon is now back in talks with his lawyers following this news to see if he can reinvigorate his own failed extradition bid to the US.
