Embarrassed Apple executives have confessed that the only prototype of the iPad mini in existence has been misplaced, and can’t be found. Experts believe that because the tablet is the thinnest yet, it is no longer visible to the human eye – while the lack of a GPS feature means that Apple’s emergency prototype locator has been rendered unusable.
This isn’t the first time that staff have lost touch with the iPad mini. In April, a similar incident resulted in a team of designers using Apple’s new Maps app to trace the prototype’s last movements, and the tablet wasn’t found for five months.
