Some of the BBC's biggest stars are refusing to take part in an awareness raising exercise before tonight's big fixtures on BBC 1 and BBC2. Though all the players for both sides have been asked to wear a T shirt promoting an anti rapeism message, some have said that the T shirt gesture doesn't go far enough.
"It's a totally futile gesture," said one public school educated stentorian voiced star presenter on Newsnight, "besides, we need to start hitting the sex offenders with meaningful punishments. A BBC star earns hundreds of thousands of pounds and they don't even pay tax on it. A fine isn't going to hurt them."
