Union supremo Nick McCash, 72, said today that the Hillsborough enquiry should extend back to the Peasant’s Revolt of 1381. After all, he said, 'if it can be opportunistically extended back to Orgreave in 1984, another 600 years of grievance makes little difference'.
Historian Sir Robert Carstairs commented, ‘the ancient records of the Peasant’s Revolt are marginally more accurate than those of South Yorkshire Police from 20-30 years ago, and clearly show that the events at Smithfield, culminating in the murder of Wat Tyler and John Ball, two innocent visiting fans from the Wirral, were caused by inadequate policing and the innate hostility of the rest of England towards scousers.
The Lord Mayor of London did his utmost to restore order at Smithfield after mistaking chants of ‘where are the cops?’ for ‘we are the Kop!’ This involved stabbing unarmed father of three Mr. Tyler in the neck, before another officer, allegedly, accidentally disembowelled him while trying to get him to ‘move along quietly.’
Boris Johnson commented ’those were the days’ in Latin.
