Shanklin based furniture company Davies & Sons has launched a revolutionary new sofa which includes an integrated docking station for Sinclair ZX81 RAM-packs which now allow lounging sofa users to add a whopping 16K of additional memory, allowing the playing of such games as paddle tennis and non-paddle tennis.
'ZX81 users need not disrupt their lounging activities to slot the RAM-pack into their microcomputer's back panel. Now they simply lift the armrest cover and slot the RAM-pack into the space provided in the cavity. This is truly a wonderful invention that will change our customers' lives, and for a mere additional £500 we offer a built-in CRT monitor in the footrest which means they don't need to lay a cable across the parlour floor to plug into their black and white TV set' said a delighted Mr Davies.
Mr Davies denied that the furniture was not future proof because of the possibility that the existing RAM-pack slot might not be compatible with emerging devices such as the revolutionary Sinclair MicroDrive. 'We belive that the RAM-packs for the forthcoming Spectrum computers are compatible with the ZX81, and in any event we include a free chisel and hammer with each new sofa allowing the user to make minor modifications should the need arise. You could even make it big enough to hold a cassette player and mini tape-library should you want to store programs in the sofa and allow them to be loaded onto the computer. Some of our advanced users have even added a buzzer so they know when the program has loaded.'
