RipYaRing, an Australian extreme sports company is to offer bungee jumps from space following in the wake of free-fall parachutist Felix Baumgartner.
Based in Cairns, the adventure capital of Australia, the company will host the only 'Space Bungy' site in the world.
Brett ‘Cordsnapper’ Ashton, RipYaRing’s company director said, “Up to now we’ve used a 50 metre tower and chucked thousands of punters over the edge, so we thought it was time to move the goal posts a little wider. Felix Baum...Bau...Baug...that Austrian dude cheated by using a helium balloon. So we are going to build a tower that’s 25 fucking miles high right here in Cairns.”
The Space Bungy menu will feature 10 different jump styles. “We’ve got the traditional swan dive for your average wuss and then we’ve got the bare-bollocked tandem as well as BMX bike jumps to satisfy all you adrenalin junkies. We won’t be using any crocs though unless of course something goes wrong and we can lose the evidence...er that’s like a joke mate.”
The company has outsourced its cord production to home-workers based in the Philippines, “We want to make this a truly international collaboration. We’ve had cords made here in Oz, but the quotes we got for the length we need are fucking astronomical.”
A number of sponsors have expressed interest in the venture including the Australian Funeral Directors Association and Yellow Cow energy drinks and NASA (National Andrex Society of Australia).
