Nancy Evans revealed yesterday how much her newly acquired skill of using the internet has changed her life. ‘At first I wasn’t sure that I would have time to do it could do it’ she admits- as she usually enjoys going out and socialising with friends. But she found making more friends on the internet really easy. There is some ‘really lively’ topical debate on 4chan,she says. Using the internet has other advantages, too. “ It even solves problems in advance. I can’t think how many times my bank account has been blocked but those clever people at the other end always pop me a message to point this out. Sometimes it is for a bank account I don’t even have, but just to be on the safe side, I always send them a message and explain who I actually bank with, and all my details so it doesn’t happen again . It does make me laugh-technology is so funny!”
Nancy goes on to explain how her family life has changed: “My grown up children send me an email every week without fail , explaining why they can’t visit me-it’s always nice to hear from them, and if I’m lucky they send me their monthly holiday snaps too-that’s handy because it can sometimes be hard to remember what they look like . I also enjoy seeing pictures of my grandchildren on Facebook, although they often seem to be asleep in odd places , often, unfortunately, surrounded by other people’s beer bottles.
Further, Nancy positively glows with excitement when she reveals her most rewarding venture to date: “I have always enjoyed helping people and when I got a desperate email from a real Nigerian princess I felt really glad to help her financially. And it feels really good to know that when she pays me back I can use any extra money to help more people!”
Nancy concludes that she is really looking forward to receiving the cookies that are often mentioned when she goes on line: “They would make a real change from my usual rich tea-my bank card doesn’t seem to be working at the moment, so any food would be most welcome!”
