Following the branding of Curious Suffolk I couldn't help thinking of Oldham's proud boast.
When I was a kid Shaftesbury's sign said "Ancient Saxon hilltop town". Now it says "Home of the Hovis advert". Talk about dumbing down.

Leeds: home of a DJ and TV personality that everyone thought was a bit suspicious and now can say "I told you so"

BTW you should lobby your local council to have the sign say "The town that's named after Shaftesbury Avenue."
