William Hague, the new Foreign Secretary, who hails from the former mining town of Wath-on-Dearne, South Yorkshire, has been given a special award by the local council - 'The Lone Tory Medal.'
The council leader, Mr Jed Harper, who awarded the medal, said that Hague would probably be the only recipient for a long time to come, as Hague was the only person he knew in the town who was daft enough to vote Tory.
