Apologies that it wasn't done sooner.

I think everyone would appreciate that it is a tough balancing act.

Have the spoofers been cleared out?

Yes it is sometimes a tricky one. Generally we prefer not to intervene in the hope that contributors can sort out their differences in the spirit of the site, but sometimes it becomes clear that resolution will not be possible without a bit of admin assistance.
We are well aware of which contributors use multiple logins, nothing wrong with that in itself, but when used simply to abuse others' efforts or even make personal attacks on others we have to take action. This morning's 'moderation' for instance involved a contributor who has previously been blocked under another username for doing the same thing a while ago.
All we can ask is that contributors be constructive when posting or commenting on subs to maintain the 'wiki-comedy' element which is what makes this site unique.
From an editorial point of view we will always try to use the best submissions for front pages, NiBs, left alerts and tickers, but while all contributions are read by the editorial team there is always going to be a limit to what can be used.
Sometimes, however, we have missed out on submissions which were destined for the Front Page but did not pick up on them quickly enough before they have been withdrawn, and possibly used elsewhere, which is of course any writer's prerogative. We will try to improve communication with the writer or writers concerned to make those intentions more clearly known.
Lastly, in light of the happenings of the last few days, can we ask all contributors to review the NewsBiscuit articles of incorporation, particularly Paragragh 24, subparagraph 2 - 'Be nice to everyone.'

"Sometimes, however, we have missed out on submissions which were destined for the Front Page but did not pick up on them quickly enough before they have been withdrawn, and possibly used elsewhere..."
That means you wayland. Ok, occasionally me too, but mostly you.

Thanks, admin. I hope some of the regulars who drifted off recently start to filter back in.
I don't suppose you can wave your magic wand (not a euphemism) at some of the dreary contributors to make them funny, could you ? They take up such space ! Oh well, just a thought.

Good news this - been pretty dispiriting of late. Now then what old ideas can I rehash all over agian?

I can't help feeling that it is inevitable that the witless posters will return.
That's not to say that I haven't hastily posted the odd piece of witless crap in the past.

Ah. VCG, you might be right there.
Sorry. I only withdraw stuff if I've got a nibble elsewhere, and there's a chance to get something used while it's still topical. Stuff goes out of date really fast with rolling news, I know the fire engine one didn't look all that topical, but it was, locally.
And it wasn't all that good, which I'd assumed was the reason it wasn't used, so I decided to let people ignore it somewhere else.

Sorry to be a pain, but could you not publish my comment above please? It's been picked up elsewhere.

Does this mean you DO know which trolls are using multiple usernames to clutter up the site with inane conversations they hold between themselves?
Or maybe it doesn't happen and I'm just being paranoid about accusing people of such evil practices.
We need closure.Nice passing of the buck there Giant
VCG motto... Ifius in doubtus blamus WaylandioMandy, at least it explains why none of our subs have been used over the past 4 years
I thought it was because they were crap but apparently it's because they must have been overlooked.
I vote we sub all of them again.Posted 8 years ago # -
No issue with "dreary contributions", we are (well most of us) guilty of that. Nice to see the bollocks stuff has gone though. It was like having a family of pikeys camping on your front lawn.
Can I just ask that we allow the occational flounce? I do like reading the banter.
I had given some constuctive critisism to the newest Saville Row sub overleaf but edited it to "Welcome" in the spirit of today just in case the honest critisism was not well recieved. That's the damage trolls do; make us tread on egg shells.

No such thing as a dreary contribution or a crap joke - just ones that are yet to find the right audience. Example - there's loads of stuff I think of other people say they don't find funny, but when I've had to much to drink and there's no one else around I find them dead funny...

Anyone else see the Irony of a conversation that started with Admin seemlessly being taken up by Newsbiscuit Editorial Team who talked about the downside of multiple logins. Is it the same person?????
Thanks for your extensive reply though. It's nice to hear from head office every now and then:)

Good call, admin.

It feels much more calm and positive in here now, the karma is back. And the quality in the writer's room seems to have improved.

The fools who were doing this were banned from 'that other' website. Hopefully one or two of you will finally realise that I was being straight with you all. I only ever had the one ID. Those people are sick in the head, and insanely obsessive. Sorry for any inconvenience. And best wishes to you all for the future.

Thanks admin. Can we all play nice(ish) again ? A south American, a European, and an Austrailian walked into a bar...

The Australian said 'how can I serve you?'

Now that admin has taken the bold step of trying to sort this out, possibly violating contributors' human rights in the process, I expect all the people who were staying away to come back and flood the boards with comedy gold.
Come on guys, pull your finger out and get subbing. You don't have to come back in with full FP contenders straight away, maybe just ease yourself back into it with some NiBs for the next week or so.
Plenty of NiB length subs, that's what we want to see. Preferably ones that require little or no editing.

How about little or no jokes?
I can certainly help out there.Posted 8 years ago # -
Yes thanks Admin, NB is feeling good again. I think I shall celebrate by writing loads and loads and loads and loads and loads of rubbish NiBs next week.
Posted 8 years ago # -
Just missed out on the Nobel Peace Prize, Admin.
Posted 8 years ago # -
Don't listen to VCG, full length subs are the way to go. Except around late November time. Anyone found not submitting quality NiBs in that period is a great big wanker.

I agree.

May I suggest we implememt a stricter admissions policy in order to weed out the plebs?
Would be Biscuiteers should have a minimum grade B+- Comedy Baccalaureate or an F in Media Studies.Newbies are to spend their first term being beasted (and occasionally sodomized) by the older boys before handing over their work for inspection, this is character building and will produce a well-rounded individual.I agree with Mr Jolly, the flounces are fun to watch but these need to be controlled in a safe environment. I would suggest a Fight Room where combatants would waiver their Human Right in exchange for shares.
The high standard needs to be maintained or we may as well apply for Academy Status.
I rely on this site for inspiration (actually I just nick stuff) and there is a limit to the number of Louis Vitton handbag jokes one can do.Posted 8 years ago #
