A Midlands man has spoken of his horror, after accidentally shooting his mother-in-law dead, during what he believed was a burglary at his Birmingham home.
After being woken at 2pm by noises from the downstairs utility room, he went to investigate, taking with him the handgun he had recently purchased as part of the government's 'shoot a burglar' crime-reduction bill.
After challenging the suspect, who appeared to be carrying his small portable black and white TV, he fired two shots directly into the chest cavity . It was only after turning on the light, that he realised, it was in fact his wife's mother, carrying a pile of ironing.
Chief Superintendent Richard Ward was sympathetic adding that "if more people followed his example the world would be a much better and safer place".

I like this, because I hate my mother-in-law. But, in all honesty, to kill her, I’d need a mallet and a sharpened wooden stake. Have some stars.
