Newspaper columnist Penny Thoughts has launched a strong entry in the increasingly competitive Jimmy Savile anecdote market, with a tale of how the newly identified pervy DJ waved a smokable phallic symbol at her and crudely mimicked orgasmic grunts.
"As I sat in my living room, Savile looked me directly in the eye and said hows about that then boys and girls," writes Thoughts, in her column in the Independent. Then Savile said made the crude gesture that was to become the subject of thousands of newspaper columnists up and down the country. "He had forged a phallus out of tobacco leaves. Someone later told me these had been rolled on the thighs of Cuban nubiles. As he waved the phallus, he shouted urrr ah urr ah urr ah err -"
