Several of the country’s large supermarket chains have recognised that referring to Buy One Get One Free offers as ‘BOGOF’ has seen the term enter into everyday parlance. Consequently, they are now competing to come up with other catchy ways of offending their customers.
One of the first to show their hand was Morrisbury who rewrote the phrase ‘Two for the Price of One’ as ‘Price Of One For A Couple Everyday’ so that they could shout POOFACE at shoppers. Tesda soon joined in with their own TOSSA campaign which stands for Tesda Offers Super Savings Always while Sainsons have recently reduced the price of everything in their stores by two pence and are now telling all their customers to pee off.
Not all customers are impressed however and would prefer a return to the days when storekeepers were polite to their customers. Mr Mulligan of Roehampton explained that he recently visited Tesda for his weekly shop and attempted to use his wife’s loyalty card. He said “I was told by the checkout operator in no uncertain terms that Clubcard Use Not Transferable.”
