F1 maestro Lewis Hamilton claims he has ‘finally matured’, and looks for more in a car these days, such as adequate cup holders. After spending several weeks looking through brochures, he’s finally settled on a grey Mercedes with a big wing on the back, putting ‘comfort ahead of speed’ on his list of priorities.
Hamilton is seen by many as an Ambassador for the sport, and his stated preference for ‘somewhere to put my coffee during night races’ is sure to win him new fans amongst shift-workers and insomniacs.
Hamilton’s decision sees him replace Michael Schumacher as the ‘face of Mercedes’, a surly elderly chap who drives erratically with a long queue of cars held up behind him. “Whilst that’s an image many will associate with a Mercedes, Michael has been looking at caravans of late”, sighed F1 chief Ross Brawn. “Redesigning the car to suit a metrosexual is one thing, but we’re not fitting a tow bar.”
