Joey Barton has today come out and condemned the punishment given to John Terry for racially abusing Anton Ferdinand. ‘I got 6 months for beating up a stranger’ tweeted the ’ Marseilles Midget’. ‘Surely Terry should be locked up for at least 3 years.’
John Terry was handed a 4 match ban and fined a bag of peanuts for calling the QPR defender ‘a f****** b**** c***’, but he always denied this claiming never to use words with more that 4 letters. However Barton, Twitters very own ‘copy and paste philosopher’, believes the sentence is not enough and Terry should be jailed for his crimes. In response to the sentence he tweeted John Burroughs’ words, ‘To take something new, take the path that you took yesterday’ before admitting he had no idea what that meant and declaring the FA is a shambles.
Barton was jailed in 2008 repeatedly punching one man 20 times and breaking teeth of another, but believes that he was harshly punished because of his reputation. Citing another example Barton said on his blog, ‘they are all out to get me. I got put away for 6 months for attacking someone but my neighbour parked on double yellow lines outside my house and only got a £60 fine.’
