The Spanish government has announced that following further austerity cuts the country will close permanently on Saturday evening.
Deputy Prime Minister Soraya Saenz de Santamaria announced that the country will begin its closing down sale at 10.00 am on Friday adding 'There are many bargains to be had such as the King's palace, Benidorm and golfer Miguel Angel Jiminez, commenting that Miguel is currently away at the Ryder cup, so the person buying him will need to wait until Monday for collection.'
Spain has temporarily amended its national flag with the addition of 'Closing down everything must go' in whitewashed writing and the government has created a special poster for the sale of its national music and film archive which says 'CD's DVD's all 1 euro.'
The british government has expressed interest in buying some criminal absconders residing on the Costa del Sol including Anthony Fraser, the UK's most wanted man. Nick Griffin has expressed an interest in acquiring Franco memorabilia.
The Spanish government is now considering what to do with the Country when it has closed with Mr Saenz de Santamaria adding 'We think that it's really hot here so we could start a tourist industry. But hang-on it boiling at lunchtime so we will all need a siesta and a bottle of red wine to wash down the calamari and olives. What a brilliant idea.'
