In a last ditch post-conference attempt to revive their standing in the opinion polls, the Liberal Democrats today ousted Nick Clegg in favour of a cute looking dog called Trougher. In an interview with The World At One, LibDem president Tim Farron told the BBC "We desperately needed someone to de-toxify the party after Nick's failed grovelling apology over tuition fees. As well as being cute, Trougher perfectly embodies LibDem values being instinctively driven to be slavishly loyal to lost causes and, in these times of continuing austerity, will save on the number of interns and lackeys we need to employ as the dog is perfectly capable of licking his own arse.
