Violent demonstrations throughout the Islamic world against the US video mocking the Prophet Mohamed have scaled down after the broadcast of the rhyme “sticks and stones will break my bones, but names will never hurt me” on an Al Jazeera children’s show.
“I could see the logic immediately” said ex-mob member and wannabe thinker Ahmed Begazzi. “Has the blasphemous video made by the Great Satan actually broken any of my bones or otherwise hurt me? No, it has not. Did the sticks and stones, well actually just stones, break the bones of the woman we buried waist deep as punishment for immodestly eating a banana. Yes, they did.”
While the US Administration was pleased that the adoption of a children’s nursery rhyme meant its embassies were now safe, and it laughed off the allegation that “Barack is a bogey nose” as mere banter, the US said any attempt by the Arabs to apply “finders keepers, losers weepers” to oil could lead to a thrashing behind the bike sheds.
