Undercover investigators have revealed how asian and eastern european gangs posing as dental teams are ruthlessly extracting vast sums from desperate people and threatening them with medieval style implements which cause extreme pain.
They believe highly profitable dental muggings are on the rise leaving thousands broke, traumatised and in severe distress after this kind of robbery. Some cases involve the use of a chemical cosh, a drug cocktail that numbs the senses leaving the recipient unable to speak and so confused they'll sign anything that's put in front of them. It's only when they come to, that they realise they've been mugged.
'These gangs follow a distinct pattern of behaviour' says one investigator. 'The mark's lured into the trap by chatty young girls dressed rather like nurses. Once on the hook, the unsuspecting victim's shown into a tiny bare room passing for a surgery. This is where it all kicks off. They're forced on to a chair, blinded by bright light and then systematically tortured with nasty metal instruments. They're so desperate, they'll pay these thugs anything they want just to make it all stop, it's enough to make you spit'.
