A man who ran up an enormous bar-bill at a Shard restaurant during a charity fund raiser on Monday was spotted climbing out of an upstairs window and making off without paying.
The man is thought to have used a length of rope to lower himself over sixty floors to an open window on the 20th floor below before being whisked away in the back of an unmarked car
Police say the man is well known to them and is wanted both in the UK and abroad for a string of similar offences stretching back over 50 years.
A spokesman for the MET said the con-man has a history of turning up at high-profile corporate events and Royal functions, taking advantage of the hospitality before making off with anything he can lay his hands on.
Police warn that the man is not only a dangerous confidence trickster but also a petty arms dealer, supplying despots and dictators around the world with military fire power for decades.
The man is known to come from a family of similar con artists who have made a living out of exploiting poor, ill-educated and vulnerable people across the Commonwealth for centuries and their criminal activities are thought to have amassed a family fortune estimated at around £10billion
Police say there is no way of knowing when the man may strike again but have warned the public to be on their guard.
‘It will be meticulously planned, well orchestrated and ruthlessly carried out’ added the spokesman ‘we’re pretty sure the Shard episode was just a stunt.
We think the family may be planning to cream off millions of tax payers money by hosting some lavish street party or some crazy extravaganza on the Thames but nothing is confirmed yet. So if any member of the public feels they have taken a right Royal shafting by a bunch of free loading chancers in recent weeks and have got nothing to show for it, then please let us know – if our intelligence is correct it could happen any day soon.
