Budleigh Salterton's parish church has suffered a spate of metal thefts over the past twelve months. In the latest incident on Sunday night, a one-eyed intruder was spotted on the roof of the church by the Reverend Colin Anderton as he closed the church after the evening service. After giving chase, Reverend Anderton, who is himself partially sighted called the police. They later found the man hiding in a nearby park. A police spokesman said, "This is the worst case we've seen of the blind leading the blind."
