The Hedgehog and the Swithy Tove have bedded down together.
The way they look, we know they are of quite a different feather.
They made us wink, they made us shrug: their discomfort is a given,
And with all the terrible things they'll do, not likely to be shriven.

That's a beautiful and moving poem, Mr Thompson. Shriven is a nice word, too.

In my Oxford Dictionary of Words that are Almost Never Used (O.U.P 2006), 'shriven' is a recognised word, Mr Hunter.
I did enjoy your poem and I hope we have many more to come from your pen.
