Yorkshire born Richard Herring is to be commemorated with a statue near the Underbelly venue, commissioned by Countess Burdett-Coutts.
Richard was accustomed to visiting Edinburgh every year, but after his career died in 1999 he won the hearts and minds of the Edinburgh folk, by returning faithfully to the scene of his past successes every year until his death.
The statue will be titled "Cowgate Dickie", and will be unveiled on Tuesday.
