2012 shows a 0.4% decline in the height jumped by celebrating A-Level students when posing for newspaper photographers. Most students jumped 26.6% of their body height, down from 27% last year. However this still compares favourably with the 1970s and early 1980s when students could only achieve an average 8% jump. Critics have claimed that jumping was much harder in the late 70s, mainly on account of the compulsory platform shoes and wide flared trousers.
