It proved to be the straw that broke the camel's back for an emotional Professor Colin Pillinger, driving force behind the UK's failed Beagle 2 Mars explorer project, when visitng NASA Astrophysicist, Dr. Brett Rheinfeld, chose to perform 1970's singer/songwriter Tom Paxton's song "My Dog's Bigger Than Your Dog" during Tuesday's Open Mic Night on The Open University's Milton Keynes Campus.
"I could see Professor Pillinger looking like he was about to shit a brick when Dr. Rheinfeld started doing that Tom Paxton song." Said apsiring songstress Jenny McMillan. " Anyway, when he [Dr. Rheinfeld] finished that, and went straight into a pitch perfect version of Aerosmith's 'Dream On', Professor Pillinger just lost the plot and started shouting "Winch this down in one piece smartarse!". He was quite impressive really, I've never seen a Gibson Songbird used like that before."
Dr. Rheinfield, lead astro-engineering co-ordinator on NASA's successful Mars Curiosity Rover project has since returned to Houston for an urgent consultation with his proctologist. Professor Pillinger is, according to an OU spokesperson...'Resting'.
