Looking at all the excitement makes me wish I'd made the effort. Would like to see the Hong Kongians defend their bar billiards title or spend a day at the cross-country lobster wrangling.

No but I'm starting to wish I had a ticket, as things are really hotting up. A BBC commentator advised that one of the GB team was 'literally on fire' this afternoon.
Did I already mention that a friend went to see footer at Wembley, was told that he couldn't take in his own water bottle but that there was free water inside There was; one tap for the whole stadium.

The ticketing system is a bit strange - my mate is a very keen cyclist and tried for any of the cycling events but ended up with athletics tickets for tomorrow. He's not really interested and is probably depriving a keen athletics fan of a seat but hey ho that's the system. Don't know if there was a website for swapsies? Hey that's a great idea - I'll accept 10% equity.

Several of my friends are really keen clay pigeon shooters, and couldn't get tickets. I think they should have pushed a lot of tickets through the 'grass roots' clubs that support the sports: it would make a lot of sense if people watched events that they actually understood and were passionate about. I'm not taking anything away from anyone who has attended, but it does seem a shame that people don't get to see the pinnacle of a sport that they back and partake in.

I've been to three of the football matches and off to watch women's volleyball tomorrow. The real volleyball, not the Baywatch version.
Not too sure about "partake in" by the way...

I went to the Judo last week. The atmosphere was great. We were sitting behind the family of the Brazilian girl who won the gold and they got just a bit excited !
Lots of genuine Judo fans there. Its easy to tell because no one else understands what is going on.

A friend of mine has been to Weymouth every day since it all started. She loves it. Normally the beach and cafes would be crowded this time of year.

I've been at the Sidmouth Folk Festival all week and the Olympic knock-on effect is definitely showing.
The main events are still very well attended but the actual foot-fall in the town is well down.
Which means I get to watch the Morris in peace.
Hurrah

I'm planning this week's supermarket run to coincide with a team GB appearance on BBC channels: 1, 2, 7, 80, 301 & 302

The YM is currently en-route to London. He'll see (I think) the mens Basketball tonight, and then the Mens Hockey tomorrow. I have no doubt that their route will miraculously find them near Horseguards for the beach volleyball.

My son won a free ticket to a double header of womens' footy at Cardiff. Nicely centrally located stadium, meant we could catch a bit of the Hare Krishna festival and the 289 hen parties in town at the same time. Also got the water bottle taken though.

Carted the whole family from Noo Zealand to watch the Olympics - it has been sensational. The volunteers have been just awesome. And thanks to all the people working from home the trains are less crowded than I remember from years ago ...
