Andy Taylor, Head of Development at LOCOG confirmed the following demonstration events will be on show at London 2012:
Mobililty scooter 100m. With the exponential increase in mobility aids over the last five years, this is seen as a crucial event to keep the 'grey market' onside;
Thumb wrestling. As Great Britain have the current world champion, Graeme ‘Flash’ Cunningham, this is seen as another potential gold medal opportunity for Rio 2016;
Worm wrangling. The wet weather has ensured Team GB could do extremely well in this ancient sport, so it will be shown off to the rest of the world;
Mall shopping. The ultimate leisure activity enjoyed by millions globally, will feature as a demonstration event at the Westfield Retail Park in Stratford. Look out for Team GB competitor Gill Evans in the under 10 items category;
The statement from LOCOG finished with the hope that 'Team GB has gained so much from the Olympics, that it is only right to put something back for 2016.'
