The NHS has confirmed it is to trial the controversial QM, or quantitative medicine initiative, at several sites across London in a bid to improve patient care.
'It's a really powerful yet simple idea' said a spokesman. 'We give hospitals all the cheap drugs they could possibly need to treat people, then ensure they are under absolutely no obligation whatsoever to use them'.
'We welcome this new initiative' said a doctor. 'Our chief performance indicator is a well-stocked pharmacy, and that's constantly jeopardised by so-called essential prescriptions. At last the government has given us a chance of meeting targets - overall bed spaces should reduce as well.'
