South Korea's Kim Min-Jung admitted that Tuesday's badminton debacle arose because none of the remaining pairs could be bothered to play any better.
Ms Kim told state media "None of us are really that interested in badminton - I can't even remember why I started playing. I mean, it's just hitting the shuttlecock back and forth. What's even the point?"
"If we progress any further in the competition, it would mean missing a lot of the athletics next week and anyway I've pencilled in a trip to the Sea Life Centre for the day of the final."
"I can't wait for us to get beaten but the Chinese just seem too good at playing badly."
