There was fury at the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony after the power was shut down just as the North Korean athletes were proudly parading around the stadium behind their flag.
Already angry after the Hampden Park incident, North Korea has accused the West of a vendetta and ordered their team home. Concerned about reprisals, South Korea has put its armed forces on an advanced state of readiness.
‘We’re sorry if this has caused a major international incident,’ said Sir Robin Wales, Mayor of Newham Council, ‘but the application for an extension to the curfew was not received in suffcient time for the executive to give the matter due consideration.’
‘People have to understand they have to follow the process, you can’t just around slapping requests for extension licenses to Olympic Games and suchlike at the last minute. Next time perhaps they will be a bit more careful and apply giving the required 48 months in advance.’
