Patricia entered the hotel lobby, escaping from the medium sized rain that had fallen the sky like her tears had fallen onto the pillow of her unshared bed the last 3 years, e.g. lots.
She had meant to be meeting her successful friend Amy who had organised the launch for a new gallery show, some local artist or something, who cares what it would have been about, there would have been wine, fancy sandwiches and maybe a few illegible men. She can't face turning up late, soaked from the unfeeling rain, unfeeling like Adam had been those years ago. Bastard.
Suddenly she noticed a figure watching her from the far end of the lobby, half in the shadows, half not in the shadows. Intrigued by his massive sideburns and tall platform heels she ventured a short conversation. "Do you always just stand there watching as a lady dries herself?" Was that too bold an opening? Well to hell with it! If she was going to snare a man she would need to be bold.
"Yoilrite there then?" Came the response. She noted the strong local Birmingham accent, the tone of cheeriness, this man was no danger, he was... intriguing. And Patricia was intrigued. "Oh it's only that I've been caught in a bit of a downpour. Would you have a towel to hand?"
"Gerraway, it raining again? Bein a bit parky of late an all... well oil git up to me room and grab yow a towel." He paused, just long enough to eat a handful of prawn cocktail flavoured skips, "Yow can come up too if yow like."
Suddenly the evening looked like it could get much more interesting... "Up to your room, heavens, but I, well, I don't even know your name" Patricia panted. "Ow sorri there love, me names Noddy, Noddy Holder. Maybe you've heard of me?"... "Well, I have now."
Then they went upstairs and did it.
