Nasa's foremost rocket scientist, Marc Millis, has admitted he still doesn't know how to use a toaster correctly.

"I tried it on 3 but the 'toast' just came out looking like dirty bread. When I upped it a level to 4 it took the fire department an hour to put out the flames."

Mr Millis now furtively hangs around the launch pad with a bit of bread on a stick waiting for blast off.

One of the great mysteries of life - why do toasters have settings ranging from 'absolutely no effect whatsoever' to 'thermo-nuclear cremation' - it's like having a washing machine with options for 'no soap or water' and 'shred clothes into a million pieces'

I used to have a washing machine like that. You would feed it clothes and it would shit out rags. Bastard.
