New Spurs boss, Andre Villas-Boas, told journalists today that he's got rid of his favourite designer raincoat, on the advice of a sports psychologist.
Boyish Boas revealed that top Chelsea FC shrink, Dr Fred Terry, has advised him that his tight fitting, belted macintosh sent out completely the wrong impression. “Mr Terry told me I looked like an old TV football manager called Frank Spencer,” said Boas.
A spokesman for Dr Terry later confirmed the advice. “Image is everything in football,” said a stunning Ukrainian blond receptionist in high heels and little else. “Look what the umbrella did for Steve McClaren: the long scarf for Roberto Mancini - Or the chewing gum for Alex Ferguson.”
“Our patient Mr Boas visited the surgery last week. Along with his mother, Mrs Betty Boas,” she added.
“I am only too happy to break our confidentiality code; and confirm that following a brief consultation as to what he looked like on match days, Mr Villas-Boas left his raincoat behind, with instructions to give it away to charity.”
