The archeological world was abuzz today as news filtered through of the discovery of a huge hoard of 1 and 2p coins in a shed in Bexley.
Long-time Bexley resident Ted Johnson made the discovery in the shed in his backyard after almost 30 minutes of previously fruitless searching.
'My wife had hinted there might be a stash out back in the shed,' he said. 'But I never really believed it. However she was really getting on my tits last night about some bollocks so I decided to go to the shed to get away from the nagging bitch. I know I've got a couple of joints stashed out there somewhere so I was having a bit of a rummage and then...there it was.'
Ted said he'd previously discovered a few 1 and 2p coins behind the sofa but 'nothing on this scale.'
'I'm staggered quite frankly. To think we've been struggling with the bills, what with the booze and the fags and everything, and all the while in the shed there was this huge wad of brass.'
Experts who've studied the jar are divided on how much the hoard is worth with some guessing 'oh, about 200 quid at least' while others are just content to say 'shitloads.'
