One of the highlights in the BBC's new autumn schedule is the surprise return of Bergerac. Mark Taylor, Head of Commissioning, said, "It's great to have the off shore detective back on our screens, but this time played by Jimmy Carr. We've been in negotiations with Jimmy for a few years now since he revealed his love for Jersey. This new series will feature many adventures for the new Bergerac and see him visiting other locations such as Switzerland, Liechtenstein and The Bahamas, all great ideas from Jimmy himself. There will also be different storylines with Bergerac confronted not just with murder and drugs but with economic crime such as tax embezzlement, off shore tax avoidance schemes and trying to shut down tax havens. Jimmy is really up for this new venture and I'm sure he has great acting skills, judging from his fake outrage at banks using dubious methods to avoid tax."
Mr Carr was unavailable for comment, but his agent Michael Roberts said, "Jimmy is delighted to be able spend more time in Jersey and excited about the new Bergerac series. He has already made suggestions about who he would like to work with such as Fred Goodwin, Bono and Bernie Ecclestone"
