A spokesman for Greenfingers Garden centres, who own 20 garden centres said that they were going to revamp all of their centres. This comes after it was noted that they no longer had any plants. "Some years go we put in a coffee shop which we then expanded to a restaurant. We then started selling music Cd's of birds singing, then came greetings cards, candles, useless ornaments, jam and shortbread. Each time we added a new item we had to reduce the space for garden plants. Things were going fine as most of our customers just come to deposit old relatives in the coffee shop and buy useless crap to give to people who don't want it.
It's only when we took on an apprentice gardener and he asked us where the plants were we realised we had moved the last few plants we had out to make way for the newly introduced essential oils section. The management decided that we would give plants a try even though our staff say they are a nuisance and people don't come here to buy plants.
