Parents and teachers have expressed surprise and concern about the popular "Where's Wally" books being added to the GCSE list of Set Texts.
Sid Finch, who's son Rubin will study GCSE English from September, commented, "The main character is much the same from book to book and there is very little development. The vocabulary is, to be honest, pants. And the study support texts series 'There's Wally!', which has Wally picked out in highlighter pen, is no better. I don't think my son will gain a great perspective on English literature from these, though it does keep him quiet for quite few minutes before the inevitable "There's the little fucker."
