Somerset County Council seek, county wide, emergency powers to close all roads which have installed street lighting, until “risk assessment” completed following request to hang lightweight bunting, to celebrate Queens Diamond Jubilee in Burnham-on-Sea.
An official (who was reluctant to be interviewed) indicated, road closures would last several months, possibly years. But, actual, real disruption would have minimal effect, as “peeps will hav-ta find otha ways of kommutin’ an’ gittin’ arund, like”.
The official went on to say “A bee-nee-fit of the shuttin’ of roads, will be to kut smog and otha crap, as all ka’s 'n' buzzes will be ex-kluded – that’s gotta be good, innit, like?”
Either way we all hope they complete the process in time for the Queens Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
