Palace officials have confirmed that the Queen "deeply regrets" agreeing to work on June 4th and 5th, and that when she agreed to the engagements back in February, it "hadn't clicked" that there was a 4-day weekend.
A spokesman said that the the Queen first became aware of the mix-up when the Royal Hairdresser asked her if she had anything nice planned for the long weekend.
"Given that she's worked here longer than most, Her Majesty feels she should get first look at the rota," a close aide said, adding that the Queen "bloody well hopes" that there's nothing major on last week in July, first week in August, as she has already booked a caravan in Saundersfoot.
