Popular psychic Gordon Smith, famously known as “The Psychic Barber”, has announced he is giving up mediumship and is returning to his barber’s shop in Glasgow.
“I had seen it coming for a while.” said Mr Smith after his final appearance at the Brown Cow in Galashiels. “People have mortgages to pay and kiddies to feed, so they’re not going to waste money coming to watch me asking if anyone’s lost a male relative to chest or abdomen problems.”
Once highly regarded in séance circles, recent attendances at his public appearances have dropped alarmingly after insinuations that his legendary psychic abilities were on the wane. His last high-profile reading, for the British police, ended in failure when he was unable to come up with any information whatsoever on the whereabouts of Madeleine McCann.
Mr Smith was phlegmatic about his change in fortunes. “It just got to the point where I couldn’t see a future in it anymore, so I’m going back to the barbering. Would you like a wee trim before you go? And I could mebbe pass a message on from a dear departed relative whose name begins with E, T or S?”
