Thousands of police officers marched on London to highlight concerns about the Winsor review of pay and conditions.
PC Sam Mercer, 32, was one of them
“I’ve been in the job 14 years, only the last two of them on the sick. I’m gobsmacked by these proposals, at this rate I’ll be sacked before I get to retire on full pay.”
Commenting on the proposals former sergeant Roy Blackham, 52, speaking from his home in Malaga said
“ It’s an absolute disgrace. I was able to retire ten years ago and invest a lump sum in my security business. And the fitness tests, what a joke, how bloody fit do you need to be to sit in a traffic car all day?”
The Police Federation claim that they have been inundated with messages of support from colleagues who didn't attend due to it being their day off.
