   I think this quote answers the question as to whether Samantha Brick knew what she was doing when she made everybody hate her:

   "if I were Ms Beard’s executive producer, I would congratulate her on the publicity this rumpus has created"

   She's hungry for publicity and is doing a good job of getting it. Wouldn't be my first choice of how to get noticed personally, but she's probably making a fortune.

   I'm now convinced that this is an absolute set-up.

   Samantha Brick has to be merely a front for someone having an enormous laugh, how else can we explain her?

   Also, in everything she writes, she seems to have her memory jogged of some incident where her looks were commented on...

   I'm a huge fan of Mary Beard. She's intelligent, articulate, entertaining and natural. She's a real person. No frills and frippery. She's honest. A genuine case of WYSIWYG. Wouldn't change her for the world.

    If you asked me which one I'd shag, I'd rather do Brick. Though Beard's programmes are both entertaining and informative and I wouldn't rule out a dry hump over a bottle of wine

    I didn't think the DM could get any crappier, but it does seem to be getting worse. More room being taken up by sexist rubbish, less emphasis on the usual DM Fascist bollocks. A year ago there were really funny stories about immigrants and urban foxes. now it really is undiluted drivel.

    Mr OPecia has a very valid point. If Brick and Opik's banana-shaped faces curve in opposite directions, then they should breed and let the genetic defects cancel out to deliver a straight-faced, albeit doubly objectionable offspring

    Stunts, you are right. Sometimes I think about quitting the DM. It's people like me who read it to mock it that have made it the world's most popular newspaper website.
