Many congratulations to Vertically Challenged Giant who secures his hat-trick of Writer of the Month awards with his excellent feature article ‘Why people hate me for being beautiful, by David Cameron’. It was the most popular story last month and is the first Left Alert to scoop the award. We like to think readers were attracted to the piece for its satirical force, topical comedy and stylistic grace, but when you look as pretty as VCG does you get used to being patronised with awards based on more than just your ability to tell a good joke.
Honourable mentions also to waylandsmithy who assumes his customary runner-up position for ‘Ryanair flight left passengers barely 30 feet closer to destination’ (a full bridesmaid outfit is in the post), Genghis Cohen for his archive story ‘Evolution cannot explain the existence of creationists, concedes Dawkins’, Perks for ‘UN appoint Jeremy Kyle to lead international conflict resolution’ and Mandy Lifeboat for ‘Doctors unite to fight obesity with ridicule’. Sadly the camera loved none of you quite so much as VCG. Get over it.
