DIDIER Drogba's pathetic tumbling acts during Chelsea's 1-0 Champions League victory over Barcelona last night were a “desperate cry for help,” according to a leading psychologist.
Dr Judit Neuer, from University College London, said Drogba collapsing to the turf everytime he was struck by a gentle breeze was a “clear sign of mental distress”.
Dr Neuer said: “It is surprisingly common for a professional sportsman, struggling to contain his inner demons, to break out into spontaneous acts of stupidity on the field.
“If you look at it in this way, you can finally understand Joey Barton's entire career.”
During last night's match, Drogba fell to the ground on 27 separate occasions.
Chelsea's medical team later reported that his ailments included a fractured eyelash, a stubbed cheek, acid indigestion, a gashed fringe, and a chesty cough.
