   According to his web-site, Scroaty, Johnny Mathis is alive and well and stil touring.

   The title of the Hindemith piece means 'Mathias the Painter', after an artist called Matthias Grünewald. The composer's particular skill was in combining tonality with atonality and yet he was able to make the music accessible.
